Mrs Mary Burkitt 06-09-2011

Mrs Mary Burkitt of West View Stacksteads passed away peacefully on Tuesday 6 September 2011 at Fairfield Hospital Bury surounded by the love of her family she was 77,

Mary was born, and lived  all her life in Rossendale, working in the early years within the shoe industry at J H Hurst afterwhich she took up a post cleaning at Fearns High School and Nat West Bank in Waterfoot she later went back to the shoe industry for Lambert Howorth Greenbridge, and finally just prior to retirement at the neighbourhood office at Waterfoot

Mary was a well known very independant person and she was very popular within the community and enjoyed helping her many friends, she was devoted to her family and loved her home, gardening, shopping for clothes, bags and shoes and driving her car, she will be dearly missed by all

Mary survived Edward, Bernal and Granville and her dearly loved late son Tony, she leaves her devoted children Pauline, Sheila and husband John, Chris and his wife Susan  Cathy and her husband Stephen ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren and her two brothers

Her funeral will be held on Thursday 15 September when the Rev Sue Davies will conduct a service at St Nicholas’s church Newchurch at 10.15 am followed by committal at Burnley crematorium at 11.20 am.

Family flowers only have been requested however donations in lieu to either the  British Lung Foundation or Carers Contact would be gratefully received via the funeral director Geoff Ashworth for Ashworth and Baker funeral service
